What is XBRL?

XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) is a digital format used to present financial statements for direct submission to auditors, regulators, and analysts

ACRA Requirements

Since 3 March 2014, ACRA requires all Singapore-incorporated companies (limited or unlimited by shares) to file financial statements in full XBRL format using the ACRA Taxonomy 2013.
⚠️ Option B (Partial XBRL) is no longer accepted.
Directors remain responsible for the accuracy of filed financial statements.

Exemptions

The following entities are exempt from full XBRL filing:

  • Commercial/Merchant Banks, Registered Insurers, and Finance Companies regulated by MAS

  • Companies permitted by law to use other accounting standards (non-SFRS/IFRS)

✅ These companies must instead file:

  • FS in PDF + FS Highlights in XBRL

???? Insolvent EPCs may file either:

  • Full FS in XBRL, or

  • Full FS in PDF + FS Highlights in XBRL

Exceptions:

  • Companies limited by guarantee, foreign companies, and local branches → file FS only in PDF.
